The decision on what to do about Adams County’s courthouse and judicial services will be even longer in coming, thanks to actions taken during Tuesday’s Commissioners meeting.
The Commissioners received a report and a proposal from Elevatus Architects. However, the Commissioners said the $27 million price tag on the proposal was too expensive. The Commissioners then listened to a plea from Judge Sam Conrad to keep the courts in the courthouse, but to move the Superior Court to the first floor and move other offices to a new facility northwest of the courthouse. The Commissioners understood the request, but again cited the cost of the plan.
Now, the Commissioners are requesting Elevatus to come up with yet another plan that will meet the courts’ needs for several years to come, and yet not put a stress on the county’s finances.
WZBD’s Ed Thurman asked Commissioners President Steve Bailey what comes next…
It will take several weeks for officials at Elevatus to come up with a new design, but the Commissioners made it clear that they wand to make a final decision…and soon.
