INDIANAPOLIS – The Heritage Patriots took an entire team of athletes to Saturday’s Hoosier State Relays and finished in the top twelve of the small-school meet of the indoor state meet.
Alexa Walter took second place overall in the shot (see sequence above), leading a group of three Patriot throwers. Walter’s distance of 43-02 was her indoor season best, while freshman Lenai Riddle was fourth with her best toss of the year.
Riley Roy also competed for the Patriots in the shot put under the watchful eye of throwing coach Jason Habisch.
McKinsey Amstein also ran in the 60 hurdle finals, scoring eighth-place points.
The Patriots also had two relay teams competing, while Olivia Lybarger had a top-16 finish in the long jump.
The 4×400 team for Heritage of DiNestee Williams-White, Rosalinda Medina, Olivia Lybarger and Kierstyn Hess ran a season best, coming just 1.27 seconds short of last year’s team best at the ACAC meet.
Guerin Catholic junior Amelia Smith broke the meet record by over a foot to win the pole vault.
