The Bellmont Braves had an early lead in Thursday night’s game, but an exciting finish sent the NE8 clash between them and the East Noble Knights into one overtime (and then another). Losing two starters to foul trouble left the home team shorthanded and East Noble came away with a 66-61 win.

The Braves led 36-28 at halftime with a good offensive half from Daniel Selking, who scored 21 of his game-high 31 points in the opening 16 minutes.

East Noble bounced back, however, in the third and doubled up the point total of the Braves to take a three-point lead. That left the Braves playing catch-up, but the defense did their part, holding the Knights to just two buckets in the fourth to force overtime at 56-56.
Both teams managed just three points in the first overtime before East Noble ultimately pulled away in the second overtime as Beau Baker and Cameron Summers both fouled out to leave the Braves shorthanded.

Carson Waltke led the East Noble charge with 29 points.

The Braves dropped to 5-11 with their sixth straight loss. They’ll have one last chance to score an NE8 victory at DeKalb next Friday. The Braves sit in last place in the conference at 0-6, while the Knights claimed Thursday as their first conference win and they’re 1-5.
