Another NE8 win, another clean sheet for the Bellmont Braves.

After allowing just one solitary goal in conference play in 2024, the Bellmont Braves now have two clean sheets to begin their NE8 slate in 2025. They beat Norwell Tuesday night by a 3-0 margin and Columbia City last week, 4-0.

A long-standing rivalry between the two programs, fueled by continual competition against each other in the local sectional, made this one hotly-contested match from the start.

Kaitlyn Barton scored twice and Oni Krueckeberg added another in the win for coach Steve Lee’s team.

“It was a 3-0 win, but it felt like a dominating 3-0 win,” said coach Lee. His team played well and stayed focused, despite knowing that a big rematch with Concordia Lutheran loomed for the Braves on Wednesday night. The two teams met in the regional semifinals last season, with the Braves advancing on penalties.

“We are right there,” said Lee of his team and its competitive goals. “We need to continue to improve and stay healthy.”
