Alexa Walter broke the Heritage High School record in the shot put and set a new mark at the New Haven Relays with her winning throw of 41 feet and three inches.
Walter surpassed Maya Gerber’s monster throw from last year’s sectional (40-07.75).
Showing her versatility and athleticism, she also finished in sixth place in the 100.
Notes & Times:
-Riley Roy also set a season best for the Patriots in the shot put, throwing 28-10.5.
-The 4×800 team of Rosalinda Medina, Ava Smith, Emily High and Jolena Beckman made a big improvement on the team’s previous season best, taking fifth place in 11:20. The previous Heritage best was an 11:52.
-Medina had a career performance in the 300 hurdles, shattering her previous best by over two seconds to nearly win the whole meet. She was second in 50.90. Only last year’s sectional champion (Kapri Bixler from South Adams) has a better time this year in our Z-Land coverage area.
-Ava Smith was 11th in the 1600 for Heritage with a career-best time of 6:05.
-Emily High also ran a season best. She took 16th in the 1600 with a 6:36.
-DiNestee Williams White continued her march toward the one-minute mark with a new career-best time of 1:01.67. She will be a contender for ACAC and sectional titles in the coming two weeks.
