The South Adams Starfires beat out Bellmont by a point in Friday’s South Adams Invite, although the Braves did get a standout night from junior Quinn Buchan.
Notes & Times:
-Lanie French’s time in the prelims was her career best and she backed it up with another great time for sixth place for the Braves. She also ran her career best in the 200 finals.
-Luelle Schoch was third in the 200 for SA with a career best.
-Bellmont freshman Ashley Bleke ran her career best in the 200 and was fourth in 28.35.
-Stella McIntire ran a season best for the Starfires in the 400.
-Quinn Buchan turned in an outstanding performance in the 800, finishing second with the best time in our main Z-Land coverage area in 2025. The Braves junior ran a career best 2:32.58.
-Kaitlyn Barton (who held the previous area best in the 800 before Buchan’s big run) took second in the 1600 with her career best for Bellmont.
-Tia Coyne ran a career best in the 100 hurdles to finish in fifth place for Bellmont.
-Bellmont’s 4×400 team continued to lower its time with area-leading speed. Khia Cannon, Ashley Bleke, Quinn Buchan and Adi Knipstein were second with a time of 4:21.25. The Braves were only a half-second short of last year’s best time, which also led the area.
-The Braves were also lightning fast in the 4×800, with Quinn Buchan spanning both relays and joining freshmen Grace Ruble and Kaitlyn Barton and sophomore Lilly Franz to run a 10:33.88, taking second place.
-Chloe Post cleared seven feet for the first time in the pole vault for Bellmont.
-Ana Lehman won the long jump with her new career best for South Adams at just over 16 feet.
-Maya Schlemmer jumped a season best for the Braves Friday night.
