Brinlee Rinkenberger singled in the first at-bat of Thursday’s ACAC softball opener between Adams Central and Southern Wells, later stole third base and then came home on an Izzy Isch single to put the Jets up 1-0 and they never relinquished the lead, holding off a couple of Raider rallies to win, 7-3.
Rinkenberger allowed just five hits and struck out seven, working around four walks and four wild pitches to pick up the win.
Melina Peralez and Adaline Isch each had three hits in the 4-5 spots in the lineup to lead the batting attack.
The Jets face a much tougher task Tuesday when they host Woodlan.
