What started out as a close, 2-1 game turned into a mercy-rule-shortened contest when Adams Central pushed seven runs across in the sixth inning to beat Southern Wells 13-1 Thursday night in Poneto.
Cade Van De Weg was superb in the game on the mound, especially after he allowed Jacob Gearheart to score in the bottom of the first after a double. The lefty allowed just two hits thereafter, striking out 13 on the way to the W.

Leadoff hitter Joey Everett had three hits and knocked in three runs in a total team effort at the plate.
Van De Weg and Max Byerly each had two hits for the Jets in the win.
Adams Central will play a doubleheader at Monroe Central Saturday.
