Charlie Riddle returned and swept both throwing events to give Heritage an edge over host Woodlan in a very competitive track meet Wednesday night in Woodburn.
The Warriors made things much closer than the margin between the two schools in Saturday’s East Allen Meet, where the Patriots were third by 50 points over fourth-place Woodlan.
Notes & Times:
-Lucas Weber won both sprints for the Patriots. Teammate Nasir Martin was fourth in the 200 with a new season-best time.
-Preston Moore had his best performance in the past two years in the 110 M hurdles, taking second, just behind teammate Geremew Gerber.
-Sawyer Thiele cut a second from his time Saturday to win the 300 hurdles for the Patriots.
-The Patriots’ swept the relays, running season-best times in the 4×100 and 4×400 to give themselves a leg up on Woodlan.
-Braden Walter became the first Patriot to pass 20 feet in the long jump. He took second with a season best.
-Thiele was fourth in the long jump with a career best.
-While Charlie Riddle won both throwing events with a typical night for the Heritage star, the Patriots also got another big performance from Wyatt Garland, who was third with a career-best throw of 43-08.
-It was just a matter of time before Charlie Riddle ripped off a throw of 150 feet in his senior season and Wednesday was the night. He set his own new personal best to beat Woodlan’s Ryan Kline in the discus. Garland had to settle for third, despite the fact that he set his own best and nearly equaled Riddle’s old mark coming into the night.
