A total of 52 entries were received for the contest to design a logo flag for the City of Decatur.
Entry deadline was February 5.
Councilwoman Jenny Bowers-Shultz, who originated the idea of the need for such a flag, told council at its recent meeting that “in the next month or so we should by narrowing it (number of entries) to five, then we’ll let the public vote.”

She said she hopes to have the chosen design decided around the end of May, with an unveiling on or around Flag Day, June 14.
Although the public will vote on its favorite design, city council will have the ultimate decision.
Bowers-Shultz originally brought the idea of a logo flag before council last fall, saying she hoped a city flag would “foster civic pride, uniting the community around an official symbol representative of the history and promising future of the City of Decatur.”
