
James Todd McSwain, 61, of Decatur, IN, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at Adams Memorial Hospital. He was born in Lawrenceburg, IN, on November 20, 1964, the son of James W. McSwain and Donna K. (Mountz) West. On January 7, 2017, he married Paulanna S. Reidenbach.
He was a 1985 graduate of Bellmont High School and for 39 years he worked as a self-employed flooring contractor. He was a member of The Bridge Community Church in Decatur.
Todd was a member of the National Wild Turkey Federation. He loved deer and wild turkey hunting, camping, and bonfires with family and friends. He also enjoyed helping others whenever he could and drinking Coors Light.
He is survived by his wife, Paulanna S. McSwain of Decatur; his stepmother, Charleen K. McSwain of Decatur; 2 daughters, Victoria L. (Donovan) Weiler of Terre Haute and Madison P. McSwain of Carmel; 3 step children, Andrew C. Brodbeck of Monroe, Jaron A. (Morgan) Brodbeck of Decatur; Alysia S. (Kamari) Hogue of Ft. Wayne; a sister, Marla K. Brunsman of Cincinnati, OH; 3 grandchildren, Jantz A. Brodbeck, McKenna M. Brodbeck, and Ayla M. Hogue; step siblings, Brent (Michelle) Stebing, Brad Stebing, and Renee (Kenneth) Bradford.
He was preceded in death by his mother and step father, Donna & Claude West and his father, James McSwain.
Visitation will be from 2:30 – 6:30 p.m. on Friday, March 20, 2026, at Haggard-Hirschy & Zelt Funeral Home. Please dress in casual attire.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at The Bridge Community Church, Decatur, with Rocky Evans officiating. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. Burial will immediately follow in the Decatur Cemetery.
