Heritage chased just their second victory of the season with a late-game comeback Thursday night, but the real prize is yet to come – a rematch with the New Haven Bulldogs on Tuesday in the sectional – and the Patriots will be ready for it after falling 53-47 to wrap up the regular season for coach Nicole Sisson’s team.
The contest started out slow for both teams and the home Bulldogs led 9-6 after the opening stanza. They built on that lead despite the sharpshooting of Olivia Lybarger, who nailed two threes in the second to keep Heritage in the game.

Sisson’s halftime speech must have motivated her girls despite the 23-16 deficit, because Danica Fuller had the performance of the season so far for the Patriots, going on a scoring run that nearly gave the Patriots a surprise victory.

A solid shooting display by Alanah Webb of New Haven in the third quarter allowed the Dogs to keep Heritage at bay despite six points by Fuller, but it was Danica’s fourth quarter that really impressed.
Fuller knocked down six shots and was 5 of 7 from the free throw line in the final stanza to finish with 28 points on the night, leading all scorers.
The Heritage defense could not come up with the stops, however, and New Haven, as a team, matched Fuller in scoring to give the game its 53-47 final score.
Fuller finished 7 of 11 from the line for her 28, while Audra Bickel added seven points. Lybarger had six total with her long-range shots in the second quarter.
Addison and Audrey Meyer each had three points for Heritage in the loss.
Heritage fans can hear the rematch between the Patriots and New Haven Tuesday in the 3A Norwell Sectional on 92.7 FM, with tip-off scheduled for 6 p.m.
