Highlights from Tuesday’s meet between Bellmont and Columbia City:
-Logan Whitacre set a new personal best in the very first meet of his sophomore season, winning the diving with a score of 177.40.
-The strength of this year’s boys team was evident from the very first event, where the Braves nearly surpassed last year’s top time in the medley relay in their first opportunity. Oliver Werling, Hudson Krull, Zayne Roop and Logan Whitacre teamed up to win the event and they were just .5 seconds slower than the Braves’ top time in 2023-24, which came in the sectional final.
-Oliver Goble was second in the 200 Free with a career-best time of 2:12.53. Teammate Samson Owens also swam a career best.
-Hudson Krull won the 50 by edging CC’s Kylan Parker by .06 seconds.
-Zayne Roop continued the excellent night for the home team by swimming a career best to pick up first place in the Fly.
-Freshman Ben Goble made a big impression in the 100 Free, clocking his debut time within a second of the team’s very best performance last season and taking second place in 57.88.
-Sophomore Logan Whitacre set a new personal best and took third in the 100 Free.

Braves lose close conference match to Eagles
The young girls team, sharing the pool with the boys for the first time this season, put up a good fight to Columbia City Tuesday, but lost by 31 points.
-The Braves’ second relay team in the medley cut 12 seconds from their time a couple weeks ago, finishing third in 2:52.85. The team consisted of Chloe Post, Sophia Silva, Langley Murray and Noelle Hippensteel.
-Shaylin McCray swam a season best and took second in the IM.
-Madison Witte swam a season best in the 50 and won the event, while teammates Morgan Brames (3rd) and Noelle Hippensteel (5th) also had their best times of the season so far.
-A pair of freshman, Izabella Werling and Tori McCullough, swam new career bests in the 500 and finished third and fourth, respectively.
-Langley Murray trimmed five seconds from her previous season best in the backstroke.
