The Decatur Police Department responded to 870 calls in October, an increase of 44 calls from the previous month, according to a monthly activity report posted by the department.
The calls involved a mix of emergency and non-emergency responses including, but not limited to, traffic stops, traffic-related criminal offenses, vehicle accidents, and a variety of other traffic-related concerns.
The 870 calls also included property crimes, crimes against a person(s), and long-term investigations. Also, non-criminal issues such as VIN (vehicle inspection number) checks, civil disputes, animal complaints, vehicle unlocks, and neighbor complaints.
Through October, Decatur police had responded to a total of 9,651 calls for service this year, an average of 965 calls per month.
In its summary, the PD noted: “The department worked to manage these calls efficiently while focusing on building community trust and maintaining response times.
“We appreciate the continued support from our community, and we are here to respond to your needs. Every call is important, and our team is dedicated to ensuring a prompt and effective response.”
VISITORS: A group of youngsters from the Boys & Girls Club of Adams County recently visited the police station on Seventh St.
They didn’t come empty handed, arriving with cards and treats for the officers.
The department noted that the “energy level really spiked when they realized (K-9 officer) Koda was at the club.”
