It was a busy night of high school basketball for the girls Tuesday on the final night before the season begins for the boys in Z-Land.
Bellmont scored 27 points in the second quarter and blew out the Adams Central Jets on their home court Tuesday, winning by 50 points with balanced scoring and smothering defense.
Leading the Braves in scoring was Emily Bleke with 17 points, while Lanie French had a big night with 14 points.
Elsewhere, Leo beat South Adams in the Lion’s Den, 47-30.
Laney Trausch led the Stars with 13 points, making 7 of 9 from the free throw line.
The biggest difference against the now 5-2 Lions came on the glass, said coach Brett Freeman.
“We struggled to get good boxouts and control the rebound. They were able to get a number of points in the first half from their offensive rebounds.”
The Stars will face a tough challenge when they host a very good Bluffton team Friday night.
“We continue to take steps in the right direction,” said Freeman. “It’s a youthful group that will continue to get better.”
