Decatur City Hall will be closing Friday and Saturday, Nov. 28 and 29, in observance of Thanksgiving.
City Operations Manager Jeremy Gilbert recently told city council that trash and recycling collections will altered, with Thursday’s normal pickup done on Friday, while the normal Friday route will be run on Saturday.
City officials reminded local residents that utility payments may be made in a dropbox behind City Hall, or paid at www.cityofdecatur.in.gov.
LOADING LEAVES:
Gilbert also told council that the annual leaf collection “is starting to get in a good position.”
He said the sanitation department is “shooting for Dec. 6 (to wrap up the pickups), but that doesn’t mean we will be done by that day. We just need a date so we’re not doing it in January.”
There have been some recent days when front-end loaders were being used to scoop leaves – which were too wet to be pulled up by the city’s leaf suckers.
