Bellmont needed a victory at DeKalb to secure an outright NE8 title Monday and they did just that, scoring a goal from a corner kick in the second half and defending their way to another clean sheet for a 1-0 victory on the road.
Ashley Bleke’s charging run met the other end of a perfect Kaitlyn Barton corner kick for the game’s only tally.
The Braves ended the seven-game conference slate with just one goal allowed and a perfect, 7-0 record.
The Braves now have one remaining game in the regular season – a home game Thursday night against Heritage. They will face New Haven for a second time this season next Wednesday in the opening round of the Norwell 2A Sectional.

The Bellmont Braves had a poor performance in their final NE8 contest against DeKalb at home, unable to reciprocate the fine result by the girls up in Auburn. The Barons led late in the game 6-0 before Alex Schirack smashed one into the back of the net thanks to a pass from Jack Johnson.
The loss drops the Braves to 2-12-1 and leaves them with a 1-6 record.
The Braves’ next game will be their tough sectional opener against #2-ranked Bishop Luers Monday. That game will be broadcast on WZBD.
