A victory in straight sets Thursday at Jay County for Cole Hyman gave the sophomore a perfect 16-0 regular season, propelling the South Adams Starfires to another win over an ACAC foe heading into next week’s sectional.
Senior Tucker Griffin forced Hyman all the way to 6-5 in the second set, but the South Adams No. 2 avoided a second-set tiebreak and won the match, 6-3, 7-5.
Kane Sturwold at No. 3 singles and the team of Neuenschwanders, Gabe and Ian, provided the other two points for the visitors.

The Starfires finish the regular season 11-5 heading into Monday night’s IHSAA draw for the Norwell sectional, which will begin Tuesday afternoon. Each team from Adams and Wells counties will compete for the title.
