All four teams in Z-Land were in action Thursday night, but there was no chance of a 4-0 night as the Heritage Patriots traveled to South Adams for an important ACAC clash. At the end of the night, Bellmont and Adams Central won in straight sets, while South Adams made it a perfect night for Adams County with a 3-1 win over the Patriots.

Bellmont and Heritage are both playing this weekend, with the Braves set to be featured on WZBD for two thrilling matches against old rivals. Our microphones will travel to NorthWood for a 10 a.m. match with the hosts and again for a noon match with Angola. The Braves and the Hornet played an exhilarating match in last year’s regional, then Bellmont eliminated NorthWood at the semi-state. Join us live on the air for all the action Saturday!

Bellmont 3 New Haven 0 (25-13, 25-10, 25-8)
Playing their first game of the NE8 slate, the Braves showed no signs of struggle against New Haven. MaryKate Scheumann continues to challenge for the state lead in kills, adding 14 more to her cause. She hit the 300 mark on WZBD Wednesday night at Carroll.
It was also a big hitting night for Alyssa Gumbel, who was 12 of 21 on kills. She also had seven digs as she continues to become more of an all-around player for the Braves.
Liz Bobay led the team with 20 assists, while Lilly Selking added 12.
Kamryn Jarvis had a good night at the net, picking up five kills and a solo block.
The match also marked the first varsity kill for sophomore Taylor Sutter, one of the key members of the Braves’ JV team this season and last.
Adams Central 3 Woodlan 0 (25-23, 25-20, 29-27)
The Jets continue to be on a collision course with South Adams for the ACAC title, with the winner on October 3rd likely to win the regular-season crown. The two teams could easily meet at the ACAC Tourney on September 28th, as well. Both events will be heard live on 92.7 FM.

South Adams 3 Heritage 1 (25-22, 25-17, 23-25, 25-15)
Heritage showed some life in the third set to avoid being swept in a pretty hostile environment in the Stardome Thursday night.
The kill to totals for South Adams showed a team effort as coach Ashley Buckingham’s squad has shown all season long how many options the Starfires have: Reagan Bollenbacher 11, Reagan Beitler 10, Reece Beitler 10, Avery Brown 9, Laney Trausch 9.

Reece Beitler led the team in digs with 17, while Reagan Beitler and Trausch each had 15.
The Starfires won the JV match 25-13, 25-21.
