Braves end regular season with win over Heritage on Majorki

Heritage and Bellmont culminated their 2024 regular season with a match on the Par-33 Majorki at Cross Creek Tuesday, showing the progress both teams have made over the course of the season, with the Braves coming away with a nine-stroke victory.

“That’s one stroke away from our best round of the season on that course,” noted head coach Mike Macke of his Braves’ 181. “With sectional on Friday, it was nice for the girls to score well.”

Medalist honors for the night were easily with Ella Hockemeyer, who was the class of the field with her 38. Hockemeyer was +1 over the last five holes.

“Ella played a very solid round, breaking 40 for the second time with only one double bogey and eight very solid holes,” said Macke after the match.

The Patriots, despite losing, also had a great night and will take confidence from the low scores across the board for the team. Playing home matches at McMillen, where the front nine is par 33 and the back nine is 32, the Majorki course is a good measuring stick for the improvement made by the team.

Aubree Rebeck scored for the team and cut six strokes from her best nine of the season, while Natalie Sorg led the team with a 46 for her best round, as well.

Both Liz Buuck and Aubrey Stoll went five strokes lower than any round they’d played at McMillen this season.

For Macke, he hopes that it all adds up to a good, solid showing Friday at Chestnut Hills.

“Morgan tied her best nine-hole score of the season, bouncing back from what she felt was a disappointing score Saturday at conference. She has shown signs of breaking out and perhaps Friday will be her day.”
