The 2024 tournament run by the Heritage Patriots never got started.
The defending regional champions were down by six runs before they ever came to bat Thursday in Angola and, after cutting that lead in half in the first inning, they never scored again, eventually falling in an upset by Leo, 16-3.
Noah Redmon simply couldn’t find an out and was knocked out of the game in the second inning after allowing ten runs. His cause was not aided by two Heritage errors.
Brady Richman came on in relief and got the Patriots through the fifth inning, allowing just one run and holding the score at 11-3 for four innings, but Leo scored five more times in the top of the seventh to add extra fuel to the fire and beat the Patriots, who could only muster four hits in the game.
The final defensive tally for Heritage saw them commit five errors.
Redmon had the only extra-base hit for Heritage, an RBI double in the first inning. Landri Linder also drove in a run.
