A home run by MaryKate Scheumann, her second in two days, and a big night at the plate by Aaliyah Faurote led the Bellmont Braves into the championship game of the 3A Oak Hill sectional with a win over Maconaquah Wednesday night, 13-3.
Just as she did Tuesday night, Scheumann homered in the first inning to put Bellmont up 2-0 and the Braves never looked back.
Bella Ashley started the game and threw four innings, allowing three runs on six hits. MK took over in the fifth and settled down after allowing a double to the first batter, throwing two scoreless innings and striking out five.
Aaliyah Faurote was 4 for 4 with a triple, a double and a stolen base from the No. 9 spot in the lineup. Bella Ashley also had two hits, including a double. Liz Bobay knocked in two runs with a single.
The Braves are now set for a rematch with Norwell in Thursday’s championship game. That matchup will begin at 7 p.m. and can be seen on IHSAATV.org.
