Bellmont’s No. 1, Owen Minnick, blitzed the back nine of his home course to shoot a 33 and snatch a victory away from the DeKalb Barons Wednesday night at Cross Creek.
“We rode our leader, Owen,” said assistant coach Mike Macke, “with a stellar 33 and our freshman Cameron (Summers) shot his season best at 38.”
Summers played great golf on the “old” back nine holes and he made a birdie on the 18th hole in front of the clubhouse.
Minnick’s outstanding round included a pair of twos on the Par 3s at No. 11 and No. 13. He also recorded a three on the tough 17th hole with a big drive and almost expectedly birdied the 18th.
The Braves won the match 165-167 to get back to .500 in the NE8 with one match remaining.
