Andrew Mirelez and Brady Richman teamed up for six of the 15 base hits in the game for both teams to lead the Heritage Patriots past Manchester Friday night, 4-2.
In a game that did not feature an extra-base hit, playing small ball was key and the Patriots did just enough to move to 15-2 on the season.
Richman singled in the second with two outs and later scored himself to give his team a 2-0 lead, then the Patriots got an RBI single from Noah Redmon, knocking in Andrew Mirelez, with one out in the fifth. Redmon scored later in the inning on an RBI hit by Landon Lybarger.
Thomson Keppel started the game on the mound and worked around five walks to allow two runs and keep the Patriots in the game.
Lybarger came into the game and got the two-inning save without allowing a run.
Coach Dean Lehrman’s team will play a home doubleheader against Jay County at 11 a.m. Saturday before picking back up their game with Adams Central on Monday. That continued game will be broadcast on 92.7 FM as the Patriots pursue another ACAC title.
