Landon Lybarger got 15 outs and allowed just four hits and his teammates put 11 runs on the board to give the starter a 4.5 inning complete game victory Monday night at Heritage.
The Churubusco Eagles allowed an RBI triple by Noah Redmon and an RBI single by Landri Linder in the bottom half of the opening inning and those two runs would have held up the rest of the night, the way Lybarger was pitching.
Landon struck out four batters and worked around four walks to earn the victory.
The Patriots set up the shortened game with a monster effort in the third inning. The team scored nine runs in that inning and put the game away.
Had the game gone seven innings, Noah Redmon would have had the opportunity to go for the cycle with a home run.
Up next for the Eagles will be the Bluffton Tigers in an important ACAC battle. The Tigers are unbeaten currently in the ACAC.
Last week’s game against Adams Central was cut short due to storms. That game will be resumed on Monday, the 13th. WZBD’s broadcast of that game will also continue that night.
