Another round on the back nine had a different result for the Bellmont Braves Wednesday night. After losing to an excellent Huntington North team Tuesday night on the back nine, the Braves pulled out a 167-169 victory over Columbia City to move to 5-2 on the year and 2-2 in the NE8.
Owen Minnick again led the way for the home team, taking medalist honors with the same score (35) as Tuesday. He took a different route, though, Wednesday. Instead of the eagle on 18 like he had the night before, Minnick scored birdies on the Par 3 No. 11 and the long No. 15.
Bellmont also got a birdie from their No. 5 when Carson Manley hit a great drive to get in position to make birdie on No. 17.
The Braves made five pars on the 18th hole in the varsity match.
Coach Ty Razo’s team will play Thursday night at the Portland Golf Club against Jay County and Bluffton.
