In a bit of a geographical oddity, the Bluffton Tigers captured the South Adams Track Invite Friday night but did it on their home track, as the Starfire facilities were unable to host the event.
Seven teams participated in the event, which finished late because of rain. South Adams finished tied with Parkway for third, while Bellmont finished just behind Crestview in seventh.
Notes & Results:
-Jackson Garcia (SA) set a new PR for himself with his time of 25.21 in the 200.
-Caiden Neuenschwander (SA) finished just a fraction of a second behind race winner Tyler Godwin of Bluffton (who also won the 1600 and the 3200) in the 800 with a new career best of 2:04.24, cutting .5 seconds off his previous best at last year’s ACAC meet.
-It was actually a three-horse race to the line in the 800, with Harry Gunsett (Bellmont) finishing third in 2:04.97. That time was also the best of his career.
-Maddux Miller of Bellmont was fourth in the 1600, breaking the five-minute mark for the first time in his career with a 4:56.62.
-Mark McKinley kept pace with teammate Dakota Sprunger as the pair of Starfires finished sixth and seventh. McKinley was just behind Sprunger at the line with a career-best time of 5:01.02.
-Dakota Sprunger (SA) was fourth in a talented field in the 3200 with his best performance of the year (10:51.63).
-Sophomore Tytus Lehman (SA) had the best time of his career in the 300 hurdles, finishing runner-up by just .05 seconds to Bluffton’s Andrew Hunt.
-Bellmont’s 4×100 team of Jackson Hicks, Parker Frietas, Evan Sovine and Will Kintz ran the best time for the Braves all season long with a fourth-place 46.70.
-The Starfires’ 4×100 team also had a season best, with Jackson Garcia, Uri Gutierrez, Blake Hoffman and Will Patterson teaming up to run a 47.34 and finish fifth.
-A shuffle in the order of Bellmont’s 4×400 relay resulted in a new season best by over three seconds. That team was Harry Gunsett, Will Kintz, Maddux Miller and Evan Sovine. They finished second in 3:41.46.
-Just like in the 4×100, the Starfires were just behind Bellmont with a season best. This time it was Tytus Lehman, Caiden Neuenschwander, Wyatt Mann and Will Patterson finishing in 3:42.73.
-The Starfires got the better of Bellmont, though, in the 4×800, finishing ten seconds behind the talented Bluffton team in second place. Wyatt Mann, Dakota Sprunger, Deacon Bierbaum and Caiden Neuenschwander came across the line in 8:44.61.
-The Starfires had a great day in the discus net, with Uriel Gutierrez winning with a toss of 133′ 11″ and Mykel Thompson finishing with a career best of 101′ 8″.
