Lane Lewis had no problem keeping the Bellmont Braves off the base paths Thursday night in a 6-1 Norwell win at home, continuing the Braves woes at the plate as the Knights moved to 8-4, with more wins than any other team in the conference.
Lewis struck out seven, gave up just two hits and allowed one unearned run to earn the victory. He took a no-hitter into the fifth inning.
Beau Baker took the loss for the Braves, throwing three innings and allowing five runs.
Keagan Martin pitched in relief and struck out three in three innings of work, allowing one unearned run.
The home Knights scored in each of the first three innings off Baker, taking advantage of a pair of walks in the first inning and pouncing on a Braves error in the second. Norwell pulled off a successful squeeze bunt for their run in the third.
Layne LeMaster scored the Braves’ only run in the fifth after singling to right. Jack Scheumann knocked him in with a base hit. They were the only two hits the Braves had Thursday.
The Braves have now lost three in a row and have just one win on the year. They will have a chance to get back on track against Wayne Saturday with a doubleheader.
