Columbia City put Bellmont behind the proverbial Eight Ball Monday night by scoring three times in the first and two more in the third, but the Braves charged back with a big rally in the top of the seventh, only to strand the tying run on second base to end the game and fall, 5-4.
Mary Kate Scheumann overcame those two big innings and settled down, pitching into the fifth inning, where she was relieved by Bella Ashley, who set down all four batters she faced.
Ashley and Taylor Bauer each had two hits for the Braves in the loss.
