Ben Binegar and Owen Minnick led the way for the Bellmont Braves as they took on the Bulldogs of New Haven in the first conference match of the season, winning 149 to 193.
Taking advantage of a usually inexperienced New Haven team, the Braves played the match on the shorter Majorki Nine, which is just a Par 33 course. With plenty of seniors graduating from last year’s team, the new-look Braves performed well in the familiar surroundings, with all four counting scores being in the 30s.
Minnick finished +2 with a pair of bogeys and seven pars to take medalist honors.
Binegar got off to a tougher start with four bogeys on the first five holes, but his birdie on the eighth hole matched his opponent from New Haven, Jared Suarez, and he ended the night with a 37.
Colin Mihm had one bad shot on the third hole and otherwise shot a very impressive 38 as the No. 5, while Brady Malone overcame a poor second hole to finish +6.
