The Adams County Community Foundation recently awarded a grant to Three Oaks Christian School (located in at the former Southeast Elementary School) for a theater production of “The Magician’s Nephew”. Three Oaks Christian School is teaching secondary students a semester-long class in drama. In doing this, the school’s secondary students are producing The Magician’s Nephew, an adaptation of the classic book by C.S. Lewis in the Chronicles of Narnia series.
During the drama class, students are taking leadership roles like stage manager, set construction, sound engineer, lighting engineer, costuming design, makeup & hair, playbill creator, art creation for promotional items, marketing lead, as well as taking on acting roles.
The Magician’s Nephew production will be presented to the public, at no cost, on May 10 at 7 p.m. at Three Oaks Christian School (located at the former Southeast Elementary) at 901 Everhart Drive.
Dustin Leimgruber, Three Oaks Christian School grant representative, expressed appreciation to the ACCF for this support, which has provided theater lighting improvements for the school. Dustin noted that the theatre provides a powerful opportunity for students to develop skills in both communication and creativity and builds confidence.
Dan Claghorn, ACCF grants committee member, added that the ACCF is pleased to support this program that is educational, entertaining, and a community out-reach program for Three Oaks.
Magician’s Nephew production will be presented Friday, May 10, 2024 at 7:00 p.m. Guests will enter the Three Oaks Christian School through the Main Entrance, (this is Door N1).
One might ask, ‘what will the audience expect’?
The performance is expected to be about 90 minutes. No advanced reservations are required and there is no cost to attend.
This ACCF grant was made possible through unrestricted funds sponsored by the John & Kay Boch fund and the Don Wood Community Enrichment Fund.
