It’s not always serious stuff at the Decatur Police Department.
Amy Gage, the department’s chief clerk, has brought a bit of reptilian fun to the Seventh St. police station, introducing Copper, the rock snake.
Copper (“Copper”, get it?) sits outside the station, near the used-drug drop-off box, and he (or she?) invites the public “to add a painted rock to see how long I can get,” as it says on an accompanying sign.
The sign also includes one piece of advice: “Oh – and smile, you’re on camera.”
So for anyone with any thoughts of taking Copper home … well, there is likely to be a police car at your door before too long!
Copper has a nice paint job, so it would be best not to bring any old painted rock to the station. Make it good stuff!
