PRESS RELEASE
The Adams County Community Foundation is pleased to announce that South Adams Trails (SAT), Inc. was recently awarded a grant to aide in clearing out the trail from Berne to Geneva.
South Adams Trails, LLC was created in 2007 to further the recreational opportunities for the citizens of Adams County, as well as visitors and tourists. The organization has been working to achieve this goal by planning, developing, constructing, and maintaining a pedestrian and biking trail between Berne and Geneva, as well as additional and various trails throughout southern Adams County. SAT has successfully acquired the land needed from the old railroad bed from previous owners. The current project is to clear the trail from 850 South to 700 South.
Neil Potter, South Adams Trails, LLC grant writer, expressed appreciation for the support from the Adams County Community Foundation. Dan Claghorn, ACCF grant committee member, added that the ACCF is pleased to support South Adams Trails and their 20+ years of working to make these safe pathways in Adams County.
This grant was made possible by the John and Kay Boch Fund. John Boch was the Decatur postmaster and Kay Boch was the owner of the popular ‘Kiddie Shop’ on Second Street in Decatur. Though deceased, they are leaders in the philanthropic giving in Adams County. Establishing a supporting organization in the ACCF in 1996, this fund has provided stability to the Foundation. Growing the fund to over $5,000,000, nephew Robert Boch was very dutiful as he managed the investment and the distribution of the grants and scholarships.
