After being delayed by a week due to the weather and after having to leave their broken home pool behind for the remainder of the season, the Bellmont Braves still turned in some great performances Saturday at the NE8 conference meet.
Notes & Times:
-Huntington North broke the record set in 2019 by Norwell in the medley relay by .01 seconds.
-Norwell’s medley relay team of Jillian Melcher, Haleigh Reinhard, Ella Krug and Emerson Meredith swam their best time this season and finished third.
-The medley team from Bellmont posted an outstanding time of 2:08.35 to take fourth place, cutting three seconds from the previous best time at Jay County. That team consisted of Shaylin McCray, Madison Witte, Brooklyn Brownlow and was anchored by freshman Bella Ashley.
-Norwell’s Olivia Daniel took fourth behind teammate Cassie Coyne (3rd), but she cut 3.5 seconds from her previous season best in the 200 Free.
-Ella Hockemeyer (Bellmont) swam her best time this season to finish seventh in the 200. Teammate Emma Howell did the same and finished 11th.
-Madison Witte came just .11 seconds away from her PR to take fourth in the 50 for the Braves. Her time of 26.88 was her best of the season.
-Brooklyn Brownlow (Bellmont) cut five seconds from her season best and dipped below her all-time PR to take eighth in the Fly.
-Emerson Meredith (Norwell) was the champion in the 100 Free with a season-best time of 57.26.
-Olivia Daniel went below six minutes for the first time ever Saturday for Norwell and took second place behind Columbia City’s Erin DeVito, who nearly broke the conference record with her time of 5:31.21.
-Hockemeyer also swam a season best in the 500 to finish in seventh place.
-Huntington North also broke their own conference record to win the 200 Free Relay. Annika Carpenter, Delaney Houser and Kaydince Kalhoefer were on last year’s team that broke the record and they were anchored by freshman Anna Kalhoefer in this year’s new record.
-The Norwell relay team took third with their best effort by more than two seconds this season. That team was Sawyer Peterson, Renee Fraze, Olivia Daniel and Emerson Meredith.
-Brooklyn Brownlow also set her PR with her seventh-place finish in the backstroke, finishing in 1:14.37.
-Norwell’s Marlee Meredith swam a new PR to take second place in the breaststroke.
-Madison Witte (Bellmont) also set a new PR for herself with her fourth-place time.
-Olivia Daniel, Ella Krug, Cassie Coyne and Jillian Melcher teamed up to swim the best 400 relay time for Norwell this season and take second place behind Columbia City.
-Bellmont’s 400 Relay team of Ashley, Hockemeyer, Shaylin McCray and Witte cut over six seconds off their previous best to take fourth place.
