The December IHSAA board meeting set the host sites and fields for the upcoming high school softball season.
The state association will continue to employ an odd format with sectional 22 containing seven teams and sectional 23 having just five schools in the field.
Heritage will continue to compete in sectional 22, but they will not have to travel all the way to Angola this season. Instead, they will stay in their own district and play at Leo. Also competing in that field are Bishop Dwenger, Concordia, Garrett and Woodlan.
The Bellmont Braves will not host their own 3A sectional. Instead, they will go to Oak Hill this May. Other teams in that field are Norwell, Marion and Peru.
Local 2A teams will be happy to play at a better venue this May than last, when the sectional was held at Manchester. This year’s tournament will be held in Berne at the pristine South Adams softball complex. Adams Central, Bluffton, Bishop Luers, Manchester and Whitko will remain in that field.
