With an outstanding (albeit late) start to the season, there was little doubt that the Adams Central Flying Jets were going to be the #1 seed, especially after their dominating performance at the last two super duals. That seed was confirmed live on WZBD Monday night on a special edition of High School Wrestling Weekly, but there will be plenty of competition on the way to the trophy.
The Jets will receive a bye in the opening round of the event, set to be held at Rochester High School and broadcast live on WZBD’s YouTube channel. They will face the winner of #8 seed North Miami and Cascade in the quarterfinals. The Jets upset Cascade in the semifinals to reach last year’s 1A championship match.
Adams Central finished runner-up in last year’s event, falling to Tell City and it is the Marksmen who could be the semifinal opponent for coach Tony Currie’s boys. Tell City will likely wrestle South Adams in the quarterfinals.
