Wrestling is hard.
And when you try to lead a team at a school as small as Southern Wells, well, it’s hard, too.
There is a reason that most schools in the IHSAA of Southern Wells’ size don’t have a wrestling team.
There’s just not enough boys.
Two years ago, the Raiders won just two bouts at the Jay County Sectional.
Then, last season, Jacob Duncan returned to his home school and became one of the youngest head coaches in the state of Indiana. He was part of a quartet of wrestlers several years ago who came close to winning a semi-state title for the school.
Now settled into his second year, Duncan has the Raiders back in a position to win some dual meets and compete for places in the top half of the ACAC and the Jay County Sectional.
