Winchester Golden Falcons (0-1) at South Adams Starfires (0-1)
The 2023-24 season got off to a rough start on the road Saturday for the South Adams Starfires, who struggled to score against a very good Eastbrook team that will likely challenge again this season for a sectional title.
The Starfires left many questions unanswered on offense, hitting just 11 shots against the Panthers. The bright spot for South Adams in that blowout loss was transfer Addie Baker, who led the team with 12 points.
The most concerning thing for coach Wayne Kreiger was how his team handled the ball. The team had as many turnovers as shots taken – not a good combination for winning high school basketball games.
Series History
The Starfires have not had a good run against Winchester, losing the last seven in a row. The program has to go all the way back to 2015 to find the last time the Stars were victorious in this series. Winchester won the game last year 50-42.
Players to Watch
For South Adams: Macy Pries had 16 points in this contest last season, knocking down eight shots from the field. The senior is nearing 1000 career points and will be happy to be shooting on a pair of familiar hoops in the Stardome.
