The Bellmont Braves received some respect from conference coaches with two players being named to the first-team all-conference in the NE8 last week.
Dylan Velez, who had been a first-team defensive tackle as a sophomore and as a junior, maintained his status with his switch to defensive end in 2023. He led the Braves in tackles (94) and had a staggering 31 tackles for loss, along with 11 sacks.
Joining Velez on the first team is safety Job Hoffman. A sure tackler, Hoffman finished the ten-game Bellmont season with 76 tackles and an interception.
Senior Braylon Braun was named to the second team for the NE8 as a guard.
Another senior, Cole Mendez, received honorable mention recognition for the third year in a row for his play at center this year for the Braves.
Cristian Hatch was also recognized for his play at cornerback and running back with honorable mention status. He had 24 tackles this season and 428 yards rushing to go with two touchdowns.
