The race within the race between Madison Gerber and Gabi Landis went the way of Landis by three seconds, but for the two elite runners in the Adams Central cross country stable, it was another team title that was most important as the two girls finished 4th and 5th in the New Haven Classic.
Most important in the team race was the fact that Landis and Gerber (pictured below) finished ahead of all the Monroe Central runners, because it was the Golden Bears who were just behind the Jets in the team standings.
Both girls have been right around the 20-minute mark for the past month and they were right on that pace again Saturday.
The individual race was run by a pair of Blackhawk Christian teammates, but they ran as an incomplete team.
The Jets also got a great race from junior Addison Gilbert, who was 15th with a time of 21:20.5.
