Playing on the lightning-fast artificial surface at East Noble and admittedly not at their best, the Bellmont Braves still found a way to survive and stay in the hunt for an undefeated conference season and the NE8 trophy by beating the Knights 1-0 in extra time.

Just 90 seconds away from a penalty shootout, the Braves got a goal from Arabelle Laurent on a perfectly-weighted pass from Carly Gilbert to take the lead and seal the victory.

The Braves will have to be better if they hope to win their final two NE8 matches of the year, Thursday against Columbia City and Monday against DeKalb. Both matches are at home and Monday’s match will be the very first WZBD soccer broadcast on 92.7 FM.
