FORT WAYNE -On Friday, Northeast Indiana area football teams gathered at the Empowered Sports facility in Fort Wayne for their annual Media Day. An estimated 50 teams and 298 players met with the area Print, Radio and TV Media. The players had the opportunity to show their on-Air talents, prior to their debut on the turf in less then a month.
The Focus of WZBD at this event was the four teams that will be covered this season in the newly named “Z-Team Area”, that includes AC, Bellmont, South Adams and, added this season, the Heritage Patriots.

Rex Brewer of the Friday night broadcast crew, had a chance to interview all four coaches of these Z-Squads and several key players. With close ties to the Wells county schools and their coaches, Coach Brent Kunkel of the Bluffton Tigers and Josh Gerber of the Norwell Knights also took the time to sit down and discuss their outlook on the 2023 season. The Coaches were pleased with the progress their teams have made during the early summer session and ramping up the intensity for these last few weeks of summer workouts.

This media day was just a prelude to the upcoming season of the Leichty Brothers Plumbing and Heating Adams County High School Coaches show, hosted by The West End Restaurant and sponsored by other fine advertisers on WZBD. (Saturday Mornings at 8:05)
Look for these interviews in upcoming preview articles and features as we get ready for Week One of High School Football here on WZBD.
