After a lengthy debate Tuesday, the Adams County Commissioners decided they need to speak again with the County Council about how to pay for the extensive expansion and renovation of the county’s IT Department. The county will be able to use federal recovery plan money for much of the cost, but some things that are needed can’t be paid for with such funding.
WZBD’s Ed Thurman asked Commissioners’ President Stan Stoppenhagen about how they’ll pay for all the items for the county’s IT needs…
The county is consolidating all of its IT functions at the county government center, but because the building is several decades old, several things must be done to accommodate all of the IT functions. The Commissioners plan to meet with the County Council soon about the additional funding.
In other news coming from Tuesday’s meeting, the Commissioners learned that the new elevator at the government service complex should go into full service today. The building has been without an elevator for the past month while the new one was being installed.
The Adams County Courthouse lawn will be the site of a public rally by the National Right to Life organization on Saturday, June 24. The group will rally on the courthouse lawn beginning at 10am that morning. The public will be welcome at the rally.
Also, the county is beginning the process of increasing the price on buggy license plates. The cost of buggy plates has not increased since they began being required by the county in 2016. It’s not yet known how much the cost of buggy plates will increase in Adams County, but officials say public hearings will be held on the issue before any increase goes into effect. County officials say while prices are likely to go up next year for the buggy plates, the process of getting them will likely remain the same.
