A non-profit group wants to save the old Adams County Golden Meadows Home from the wrecking ball, and the County Commissioners are listening eagerly to their proposal.
“Saving Old Properties, Incorporated” started several years ago in Blackford County when they saved the 150 year old Blackford County Jail from being torn down just so they could save a historic building from being demolished. The building was spared, rehabilitated, and is now rented out on a regular basis. The group would like to do the same with Golden Meadows.
Dan Allen and his brother Richard head up the group. Dan spoke with WZBD’s Ed Thurman about what they see in the old Golden Meadows building…
The County Commissioners want to hear more from the group and have given them 90 days to make a formal proposal on the Golden Meadows property. Golden Meadows closed more than two years ago and has been sitting vacant since that time.
