Adams Central pushed their record to 10-1 and won their second ACAC game in two tries by outhustling Woodlan to a 5-4 victory Wednesday night with another big night in the circle by Addie Baker, who finished with eight strikeouts.
Woodlan did find success against Baker in the early innings, scoring three runs in the first two innings, but after that, Baker clamped down and gave up just six hits and one run. Â
Adams Central got back into the game with three runs in the third, starting with hits by Josie Zimmerman and Jenna Cook with one out. Melina Peralez put the Jets on the board with a sacrifice fly and Maddie Hill followed with a triple to score Cook.
Athena Schwartz knotted the game at three with a double on a full county with two outs.
The defense came through for both teams in the ensuing innings until Woodlan scored in the top of the sixth, but AC answered right back with RBI doubles by Brianna Cook and Zimmerman.
Baker took care of the rest in the final inning, moving the Jets to 10-1 on the season.
