Adams Central scored double-digit runs for the fifth game in a row and won their sixth on the trot with a shutout victory in the ACAC Thursday over Southern Wells, 13-0.
Lilli Jackson threw a shutout for the traveling Jets, striking out eight while allowing just six baserunners in the five-inning game. All three hits for the home side were singles.
It will come as no surprise to fans of the Jets that Melina Peralez was in the center of the offensive action Thursday as she had one of her best games of the year. Going 3 for 4 at the plate, Peralez scored four times and knocked in four. She was just a home run short of the cycle.Â
Adams Central hit well behind Peralez in the batting order, too, with Maddie Hill, Athena Schwartz and Megan Byerly each knocking two runs of their own.
The Jets’ game at Parkway scheduled for Friday was called off due to rain, but the team is set to play a double header at Tippecanoe Valley Saturday.
