It was a busy night of high school volleyball Tuesday night, with nearly every team in the area in action. We recap all the night’s action here for you:
BELLMONT 3 EAST NOBLE 1 (22-25, 25-12, 25-18, 25-15)
The Braves moved to 2-0 in the NE8 (6-15 overall) with a gutsy, come-from-behind effort against the Knights.
After dropping the first set, the Braves were seemingly a different team. It was a total team effort, as well, with four players having nine or more kills. Braelyn Radecki and Belle Gumbel had ten kills each, while Taylor Sutter and Brea Shoaf had nine apiece.
Emie Krull (23) and Gracie Riggs (20) had good nights from the setter position.
It was also a great night for Averie Coats, who had a whopping 26 digs to keep the ball off the floor. She also served up two aces.
Despite the poor overall record, the Braves are still ranked in the top 100 in the state overall and they’re still the favorites to win the NE8. They’ll play at Leo Thursday night in perhaps their biggest challenge for that conference title.
ADAMS CENTRAL 3 BLUFFTON 0 (25-17, 25-22, 25-20)
Freshman Jentrie Schaefer led the way for the Jets, who were thankful to get back on the court after a tough loss to Leo on Monday. They swept past the Tigers in straight sets.
Schaefer had ten kills and was in on four blocks, while classmate Slone Schortgen had 17 assists, six digs and two aces.
Emma Hirschy led the Jets in digs with 16.
Claira Foreman had nine kills for the Jets, who are ranked #9 in the state computer rankings in the 2A class.
HERITAGE 3 WOODLAN 0 (25-18, 25-19, 25-22)
The Patriots took one more step to claiming the ACAC title with a quick victory over the Woodlan Warriors.
