There wasn’t much separating two long-time rivals in high school golf Thursday night. Norwell came to Cross Creek to play Bellmont, something they have been doing for decades, and came away with a tight 147-148 victory.
Playing on some of the course’s oldest holes, the Knights and Braves battled back and forth, but it was ultimately the play of the visitors on the four short Par 3s of the Majorki course that made the difference.
The Knights four scorers combined to play the four holes at just +3, making the difference in the match.
In one of the best rounds one will see from a high school player on the Majorki, Cavin Smithley wrote the number “2” on his card three times, making up for a nasty “8” on the first hole.

Bellmont’s Owen Minnick was the medalist of the meet with a +1 round of 34. His tee shot over the creek on six set him up for a birdie and he played the three remaining holes at par for the Braves.
Cam Summers and Jacob Binegar both had 37s in the loss.
