On the final day of January, the Adams Central boys’ basketball season hit a season low.
Capitulating perhaps their biggest fourth-quarter lead in an eventual defeat at home to Heritage left the Jets shocked and speechless and 7-7 on the season.

Eight games later, they’re 15-7 and ready to go for another run at their first sectional title since 2012.

The Jets ran past took advantage of a schedule that saw them play their final four regular season games at home by defeating Lakewood Park Christian 74-53 Friday night.
The Jets jumped out to a big 22-8 lead in the first quarter thanks to a trio of threes from Lawson Deathe and Drew Johnson.

Deathe knocked down another in the second quarter, but it was all Trace Maller heading into halftime as the Jets’ top scorer put the home team up 40-18 with five buckets in the second to entertain the home crowd for the final time this season.
Braylend Reber and Bradyn Dalrymple put the game away with big fourth quarters, scoring seven and six, respectively.

Adams Central will have a real shot at reaching the sectional championship game as they drew the bye in the 2A South Adams sectional. Woodlan are expected to come through the first round over Whitko, setting up a rematch of the ACAC meeting between the Warriors and Jets, which went the way of Adams Central back in December, 64-48.
Bishop Luers will be the heavy favorite to advance through the other side of the bracket.
