Taking on an old conference foe, the Bellmont Braves could not overcome eight walks issued to the Chargers, falling 5-4 Wednesday night in Huntertown.
Aidan Zimmerman did strike out ten as the starter for the Braves, but the free passes hurt, especially in the fifth inning, when the Chargers scored the winning run. Carroll loaded the bases with three walks in the frame and a single by Logan Inman knocked in two runs, flipping the score from 4-3 in favor of Bellmont to 5-4 in Carroll’s favor.
Keagan Martin and Dylan Velez each had two hits for the Braves in the loss. Will Baker doubled and scored a run.
Jack Scheumann drove in a run with a sacrifice fly.
The loss puts Bellmont’s record at 7-12 on the season. They will play at Jay County Thursday.
